Jeanette C. Joyce

Jeanette Parker Wynn Joyce, age 95, passed away November 29, 2018 in Leesburg, Virginia after a long illness. Born September 30, 1923 in Hampton, Florida, Mrs. Joyce grew up in the Bradford County area and lived most of her life in Jacksonville and Gainesville, Florida. She spent the last six years of her life living in Maryland and Virginia. Mrs. Joyce got an early start to her career in the insurance industry working in Jacksonville, and served as President of the Insurance Women of Jacksonville. She retired as an executive with Ryder Truck Lines and was considered an expert in workman’s compensation. Mrs. Joyce played a key role in establishing Ryder Truck Lines’ self- insured program. Mrs. Joyce was a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Joyce was a member of Edgewood Avenue Christian Church for many years prior to moving to Gainesville, FL where she became a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Lettie Johns Parker and Raymond Lee Parker; her husband, Joseph C. Joyce, Jr.; and two brothers Charles and Raymond Parker. She is survived by her son, John Keith Wynn of Elizabethton, TN; her daughter, Linda Wynn Carroll of Reston, VA; and her step-son, Dr. Joseph C. Joyce of Gainesville, FL. She is also survived by five grandchildren Steven Wynn, Jennifer DuBois, Todd DuBois, and Dr. Joseph C. Joyce, Jr. and LT COL Christopher Tyler Joyce, USAF; eleven great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Garnita Parker of Miami, FL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, December 7, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 729 Edgewood Ave. South, Jacksonville, FL. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Edgewood Ave Christian Church, 1041 Edgewood Avenue South, Jacksonville, FL., 32205. Interment will follow the service at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, Orange Park, FL located at 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL 32073.
