Lola Jeanette Wade passed away peacefully in her home in Jacksonville, Florida on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Jeanette was born in 1944 in Plant City, Florida, to parents Callie and Fairy Mae Buser. Jeanette and her four brothers and sister were reared on a strawberry farm where they learned the value of hard work and Christian charity. Jeanette always prided herself that she could pick more strawberries as a child than a grown man doing a full day’s work. After graduating from Turkey Creek High School in 1961, she began her career managing convenient stores, which eventually brought her to Jacksonville in the late 1960’s. She worked for Lil’ Champ, Day N’ Night Grocery, Jiffy Food Stores, and finally Flash Foods until her retirement in Valdosta, GA in 2017. Jeanette’s dedication and hard work earned her a position in senior management at Day N’ Night Grocery while still in her 20’s, breaking the glass ceiling in her industry. Jeanette will be remembered best as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Terry Wade, her children Michelle Davis, John Vines, Alice Gainous, David Milligan, and Robyn Moore, six grandchildren, and countless others who have been lucky enough to call her friend. Memorial services will be held Friday, May 7th, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel at 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, Fl, 32207. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jeanette’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
