Jeffrey Sie Camp, age 70, husband, father, brother and friend, passed away after a heart attack on April 24, 2024 in Jacksonville, FL. Jeff was born on March 6, 1954 in Lock Haven, PA to the late Helen Marie (Kennedy) Camp and Josiah Freeman Camp.
Jeff only lived in Pennsylvania for a couple of years before his parents moved their family to Buffalo. Jeff grew up an absolute motor head. His father sold Chevys, and Jeff was always fiercely loyal to the brand. He has almost always had a project or classic car, and fixed cars – up to and including full engine swaps – for so many people it’s impossible to count. He was quite literally Mr. Goodwrench. If it was on a car, he could fix it, and this talent transferred to many other things – electrical, plumbing, drywall, some carpentry and just about any other DIY project you can imagine. It was incredibly rare that he had to call in help. He took pride in fixing things on his own, and fixing them the right way. In work, he often found himself in the same space. He fixed lanes at the bowling alley, and he professionally drove, from city bus, to professional delivery, to concrete truck.
Jeff married Christine Elizabeth (Young) Camp on March 12, 1988. March of 2024 marked 36 years of marriage for them, and 40 years together. Their life took them from Buffalo, NY to Greenville, South Carolina to Jacksonville, Florida, with so many friends and memories made along the way.
In 70 years of life there are so many moments that are important to so many. Remembering Jeff is as easy as playing a game of pinochle or turning up the radio and playing music from the 50s and 60s. It’s as easy as laughing when you remember how he used to routinely “improve” the lyrics to songs. It’s as easy as tuning in for a NASCAR race, or a Buffalo Bills or Sabres game. It’s as easy as remembering his love for American muscle cars when you see a Camaro on the road. It’s as easy as setting up your Christmas train set and picturing him as “Choo Choo Papa,” as his grandsons affectionately called him.
Jeff took his final lap, but the race continues with each of us. Keep his memory alive when you’re cracking one of his favorite jokes, hearing one of his favorite songs or driving with the windows down.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Christine (Young) Camp; their daughters, Heather Nichole (Camp) Laude and Tiffany Jean (Camp) DiSalvo; his children from his first marriage: Jeffrey Gene Camp, Christopher Keith Camp, and Sheila Marie Camp; his grandchildren Leah Madeline Camp, Emma Kiersten Camp, Cailey Karen Camp, Sylas Miles DiSalvo, Leo Russell Laude, Hudson Jeffrey Laude, and Oliver Melbourne Laude; along with many other family members and friends.
Jeff’s Memorial Service is available to view online at heatherlaude.com/jeffcampmemorial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in Jeff’s memory.
