Jennifer Lynn Hoce, age 47 passed away on August 14, 2018. She had collapsed at home and was taken by ambulance to Baptist South Hospital where after a valiant effort to revive her, was pronounced dead around 1:00 pm.
Jennifer was born March 15, 1971 to David and Susan Hoce in Canton, Ohio. She had a normal childhood up until she developed chronic active hepatitis which led to two liver transplants. The first one in 1984 and the second in 1996. She also had a kidney transplant in 2009. In 2011 she developed sepsis which resulted in the loss of both hands, except for one thumb she affectionately called “George”, and most of her toes. Her final battles started with the development of pancreatitis in 2016 and 2018 resulting in diabetes and insulin 4x a day.
Throughout these medical setbacks she was able to graduate from high school on time, receive an associate degree in college and hold a career. She became an independent agent for AFLAC and Bankers Life and Casualty insurance companies.
She was preceded in death by grandparents on both sides, baby sister still born in 1967 and father David August 25, 2016.
Thanks goes out to all the medical doctors and staff that helped her through this journey. Dr. Ruud Krom, Dr. Russel Wiesner, Dr. Stephen Lang, Dr. John Cangemi and the many nurses, techs, staff and friends along the way.
