Jeremy Paterno, 47, died on February 21, 2022 at his home in Jacksonville, Florida surrounded by the love of family and friends. Born to Bernadine and Alan Paterno on June 1, 1974 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jeremy was a kind, fun-loving, and generous spirit who brought light and laughter to all who knew him.
As a proud Philly native, Jeremy grew up in the Juniata area and enjoyed a rich childhood full of close family, neighborhood friends, and lots of soft pretzels and buttercake. He attended Northeast Catholic High School for Boys in Philadelphia and later went on to attend college at Jacksonville University in Florida. It was here that Jeremy met his wife, Kelly, developed a creative passion for photography, and made friends who would ultimately become like extended family. Jeremy was an avid rower in high school and continued this interest in college, pushing himself and inspiring teammates to not just put all they had into the boat, but to do the same in their lives off the river. Spending time making memories with family and friends was what mattered most to Jeremy. He will be remembered by his beautiful daughters for his corny dad jokes, tickle fights, and always wanting ‘just one more picture.’ Jeremy’s infectious smile and sense of humor made him a joy to be around. He brought this fun-loving nature into his professional life as well, connecting with every person he worked with to create beautiful images as well as relationships.
Jeremy is predeceased by his mother Bernadine Paterno. He is survived by his loving wife, Kelly, and daughters Anastasiya (17) and Addison (12), as well as his father Alan, brother Alan, sister Briana, sister-in-law Carol, nephew Shane, and niece Nicole. He will also be greatly missed by the dearest group of friends, crew teammates and fraternity brothers, Mayo Clinic colleagues, and so many others fortunate enough to have known him.
Jeremy’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11:00am at Riverside Avenue Christian Church, 2841 Riverside Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32205. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. In
lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Jacksonville University Rowing www.judolphins.com/paterno or the Brain Tumor Network http://www.braintumornetwork.org/donate.
