

A native of Jacksonville, he was a kind and gentle soul, soft spoken and heartfelt in demeanor and manner. He was a loving father, brother, husband, leader, soldier, scholar, teacher and respected member of the community. Among his many accolades in Law Enforcement including a tenure with the JSO and his role as the Assistant Director for Insurance Fraud division for the State of Florida, he also was a Professor of Criminology at various institutions in the State and an associate dean at FSCJ. He was a natural born leader and an inspiration to his students and faculty. Dr. Stewart loved his Scottish/Irish heritage and enjoyed playing music, martial arts training and target practice and he was a sharpshooter in the USMC.
He is survived by his son, Brad (Mary); grandchildren, Noah and Liam; his sisters, Cathy Edwards and Eleanor Hudson. He will be missed dearly.
The family will receive friends at The Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening on Friday, January 8, 2016. A memorial service will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at The Oaklawn Chapel with inurnment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
