Jimmie Lee was born in Scotts Hill, Tennessee, on August 1, 1933, and graduated from Scotts Hill High School in 1951. In 1955 she received a bachelor's degree from Tennessee Tech, a master's degree in Business Education in 1963 from Vanderbilt University and a master's plus 30 from the University of Alabama in 1975.
After graduating from high school, she was hired by Ford Motor Company and then, after a few years, decided to move to Jacksonville, Florida, to be close to her sister Evelyn and husband Jim Cable. Her first job in Jacksonville was a combination business education instructor and basketball coach at the Paxon High School. In August of 1966, Jimmie Lee joined the staff of Florida Junior College as a Professor of Computer Office Systems and continued in that role until she retired on June 21, 1991.
Jimmie Lee had a number of interests including traveling, collecting antique jewelry, cooking and flower arranging. In addition, she was an expert seamstress, and made most of her own clothes along with a plethora of beautiful quilts, tote bags, table runners and placemats. Most importantly however, her faithfulness to her parents, her husband and the Christian faith was indeed exemplary as she attended church consistently throughout her adult life and was always looking for ways to help the church such as serving as a bible teacher to assisted living facilities in the Mandarin area.
