Born and raised in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, Joan dedicated her early career to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher. An avid sportswoman in her youth, she volunteered as a basketball coach and maintained a lifelong passion for athletics, with hockey holding a special place in her heart.
Joan is survived by her husband of 58 years, John David Outerson; her children, Dean Outerson (Mai) and Julianne Outerson (Brandon Freeman). She is also survived by her niece, Hilary Jackson; and nephews, Travis Outerson and Matt Outerson (Ricky-Lynn). She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Kathleen Jackson; and her brother, Doug Jackson.
