

Joan (Katherine) Brickman Palazzolo, a longtime resident of Amelia Island, Florida, died peacefully on May 1, 2020 at the age of 79. She was born on June 23rd, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois, and was an avid horseback rider when she was younger. She attended and graduated college from St. Marys of Notre Dame in 1962 and was parishioner of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Amelia Island.
Joan was a successful business woman and entrepreneur in the field of computer sciences. Her career took her many places across the country but it was in New York City that she met her late husband, Clement “Cap” Palazzolo. On March 20th, 1979 they were married in Washington, DC. Joan was a devoted mother to her son Charles Andrew “Andy” Palazzolo. In 1981, the family moved from
New York City to Douglas, Georgia where they raised their son. In 1999, she retired to Amelia Island, Florida. Joan enjoyed the coastal lifestyle, playing regular rounds of golf, social games and lunch after church with the girls. Born in 2018, her granddaughter Marcella Rose Palazzolo was the apple of her eye.
Joan is survived by her son Andy Palazzolo; daughter-in-law Stephanie Palazzolo (née Kozlik); granddaughter Marcella Palazzolo; nephews Mike and Dan Brickman. She is predeceased by her parents Alfred William Brickman and Clara Keeley Lawler; brother, Bill Brickman, and ex-husband Cap Palazzolo.
A funeral service is scheduled for May 8th, 2020 at 10am. Services are limited to 10 people due to COVID restrictions. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local food bank or hospice.
