Joan B. Thornton, 81, passed away on September 9, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her beloved family. She was born in Brunswick, GA to the late Harley and Winnie Drawdy Bridges.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Emory D. Thornton; son, Larry D. Thornton (Lisa); daughters, Deborah Aynn Harp (Kenneth) and Kathy L. Riggs (Robert); brother, Travis Bridges (Patricia); 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; along with many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 12th in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 13th in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin with interment in Evergreen Cemetery (Gate 5) to follow. Memorial contributions in Joan's name may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Community Hospice of NE FL.
