BATES John Bates, 80, passed away on April 13, 2015. John was born on March 21, 1935 in Grafton, New Hampshire to Forest Bates and Frances Delany Bates. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corp. He worked for many years in the construction industry in various locations in Connecticut. After retirement he moved to Jacksonville, Florida where he had lived for over 20 years. Survivors include his longtime partner, Laura Bates; daughter, Christine Slover; sons, Alan and David Bates; sister, Jacqueline Bowman (Frank); brother, Doug Bates; 4 grandchildren and many other relatives and wonderful friends. Per his wishes a private service will be held by the family.
