

John Lewis Blair Sr passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022. At the age of 74 after months of declining health. Dad passed away peacefully in his home. John “Lewis” was born in Red Jacket, West Virginia on June 2, 1948. After growing up in West Virginia, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. After he came home from the war, he made his home in Jacksonville, Florida. Dad worked many years as a machine operator/mechanic in the flat packing box manufacturing industry. His hobbies included his appliance business, Dad was well known for his ingenuity. “If Dad couldn’t fix it, it couldn’t be fixed.” Dad also enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and porch dog. Dad never met a stranger. John “Lewis” was proceeded in death by his parents Henry W. Blair, and Polly J. Reynolds, and multiple brothers and sisters. He is survived by his three sons John L. Blair Jr. (Tomi), Philip M. Blair (Christy), Leon Banks, and one daughter Tracy J. Carter (John “JC”). Eight grandchildren Kenneth Banks, Tiffany Banks, Kristian Blair, Hannah Berry (Brett), Dessellee Stanford (Brian), Cassidee Driggers (Kenny), Mariah Goodman (Gage), and Hailey Carter. Four great grandchildren Elijah Baker, Evelyn Shaw, Racheal Driggers, and Addalyn Berry. Along with three brothers Larry, Edward, and Daniel, three sisters Josephine, Ada Sue, and Pauline, and multiple nieces and nephews, and extended family.
A visitation is planned for Monday July 18th, 2022, from 10am to 11am. The funeral will follow immediately at 11am. Graveside service will follow after at 12:30pm at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
