

John Joseph Chiorazzi, 78, passed away on October 27, 2011. He was born in Wilkes Barre, PA to the late Joseph F. and Margaret Glennon Chiorazzi. John was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
John was a veteran of the United States Army. He served his country in the Korean War, earning the Combat Infantry Badge. John worked as a Signal Repair Operator for the Department of Streets in Philadelphia, PA for 31 years. After retiring he continued to lead a very active life. He participated in the Senior Olympics playing softball and running a variety of track and field events. In 2001, he moved to Florida and became an avid tennis player. He also served as the president of two condominium buildings in the retirement community where he resided.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Peggy Rego Chiorazzi; daughters, Catherine Jorgensen and her husband Harry and Philomena Meisler and her husband Kevin; brothers, Joseph Chiorazzi (Betty deceased) and Anthony Chiorazzi (Theresa); sisters, Margaret Chiorazzi, Elizabeth Dougherty (Richard deceased) and Winifred Chiorazzi; grandchildren, Mackenzie Meisler, Harry Jorgensen III, Ryan Meisler, Abbey Meisler, Kate Jorgensen and Sean Meisler; and many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 in Holy Family Catholic Church, 9800 Baymeadows Rd. Jacksonville, FL with Rev. Timothy Cusick as Celebrant, followed by interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd. Jacksonville, FL.
