

Born and raised in Albion, New York, John -- known to family and friends as “Papa John” -- was a gentleman and a patriot, as well as a beloved husband, father and friend. John earned a Civil Engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Albany, New York, on a US Navy ROTC scholarship, and went on to become an Aviator in the U.S. Navy. He retired after 21 years of service to our nation throughout the world. Following his Navy career, John worked in marketing and construction in Jacksonville. He was an active member of the American Legion, Naval Aviator’s Association and the Jacksonville Water & Sewer Expansion Authority, of which he had served as Vice Chairman. He enjoyed music, fishing, boating, and was active in St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.
John is predeceased by his parents, Doris Boyce Craddock and Raymond Lewis Craddock of Albion, New York. He is survived by his brother, Thomas Boyce Craddock (Shirley), 79, of Columbus, Georgia; his loving wife of 53 years, Jennelle Daspit Craddock, his son and daughter, John Anthony Craddock (Megan) of Denver, Colorado and Jeanne-Marie Craddock Miller, of Jacksonville; four grandchildren Margaret Yali Miller, Sarah Marie Miller, Benjamin Craddock and Caroline Rose Craddock; and by a wide circle of friends. He will be dearly missed
A visitation will be held at St. Matthews Church, 1773 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32210 on Thursday April 27, 2017 from 6-8pm with a Rosary Service at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Matthews at 11am Friday April 28, 2017, followed by interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery, at 1:30pm with full United States Navy Honors.
