John Augustus Katez, Jr.

John Augustus Katez, Jr., 87, passed away on April 21, 2013. Born in Hialeah, FL to the late John and Mary Katez, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. John was a US Navy veteran who served during World War Two. He also retired from the US Postal Service after thirty years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty L. Katez; sons, Wayne Katez (Peggy) and Michael D. Katez (Karen); daughters, Nancy Katez Mann (Carlton) and Patricia Katez Everett (Greg); 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25th with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 11730 Old St. Augustine Rd.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26th in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 11730 Old St. Augustine Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32258 with Father Bernardine Eikhuemelo as Celebrant, followed by interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
