Your March 11th birthday has come and gone yet again.  That makes 6 birthdays we have missed celebrating together.  I will always think of you and miss you so much on your birthday and every day.

It is so hard to believe that we watched you and held you as you took your journey to heaven 3 years ago today.  I am so glad it was a peaceful easy passing (or was that your strength and bravery to keep us calm and at ease?). I still wake up thinking of you, think of you all during the day, and think about you and our wonderful life together as I go to bed at night.  I so wish we would have had some retirement time together.  I think all the time of how you were such a brave and strong man, yet like an exited little boy when looking at the wonders God made when you were watching the moon & stars, walking and finding things on the beach, and spending time with family & friends.  You would have stayed up way past your bed time a few weeks ago to see the super moon.  The last one before this one was in 1982, the year we got married and that makes me smile and cry at the same time.  I miss you so much and I always will.  There will never be anyone as special as you again in my life.  And that is okay because 30 years with you was marvelous and I thank God every day for that experience.  Love, Angie

Thank you for 12 years of putting a smile on my face, delivering the junk mail to my desk, watching out for traffic and weather in Georgia, and always looking out for as Angie says "your girls". He will be so missed.

It was my pleasure to know John and have him as a friend.  When he would come into the office he could always brighten your day with his smile.  When my Dad was sick,  John would always come by to see how he was doing and when my Dad passed, he told me to remember all the memories we had because he would not want me to be sad. John and I spent many hours discussing life in general while we were on the JFRD together.  I always enjoyed his willingness to learn and do the things necessary to help people.  I could always count on John to be a helpful as he could possibly be at the scene of a rescue run or at the station.  We both loved our wives and family as well as our county.  We'll miss his infectious smile and good humor.

One of the last conversations we had you told me not to cry too much over you and I won't, but I will miss you everyday.  I will miss your surprise visits to my office. I always looked forward to you just popping in. I will miss your jokes and your laugh. You had the driest sense of humor, and thankfully you passed that on to us. You were my go-to guy when I needed advice, you were always so smart about things. You taught us to respect our elders. You were a great father who stood strong when you needed to. You instilled in us good values and work ethic which we have passed along to our children. So Dad, even though you are no longer here with us I know that in each of us there is a lot of you and your memory will live on forever. I think more than any person I've ever known, John exemplified the fruits of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22) We would walk the concourse halls of the BB&T building daily at lunch.  It would take us 30 minutes to walk our mile. I looked so forward to seeing John waiting for me to go on our walk.  It was, by far, the best 30 minutes of my day.  He ALWAYS made me laugh and brightened my day.  I will miss him always.  I was truly blessed to have known John Seymour, Jr.

John and I spent many years as good friends (brothers, as we always referred to each other). We laughed at almost everything and made the most of every day. I will really miss him and always cherish our friendship. knowing him he is probably laughing at us now.

It has been a pleasure working with John and seeing his smile everyday. He was always the first one at work and was eager to help with anything you ask of him. He always spoke highly of his wife Angie and I always threaten him to call her when he use to tell crazy jokes. We will miss John so... so... much at BB&T. John was always so kind and thoughtful and never complained of his ailments; however he use to ask me how I was feeling from day to day and always told me to take care of myself. I know John is looking down on his BB&T family from up above and smiling.. John has truly earned his wings, because he was absolutely a caring and generous man who always had a smile and a hello for everyone who came across his path. John I love you like a father, you was more than just a co-worker and thank you for bringing me a daily supply of newspaper for my furbabies Dolly and FeFe every morning and caring enough to ask me how I was feeling; even though you yourself needed to be ask the same question. John I wish this was all a dream and you was still here with us laughing and joking like you use too but you are not. Well John my friend you have been a good and faithful servant and your work here on earth is done.. It was a pleasure for me to have cross your path, until we meet again...

John was a wonderful and caring man. The halls at BB&T will never be the same. Rest in peace my friend.
