SHARPE—Rev. John Hamilton Sharpe, Jr., 83, passed away Saturday, February 9,2013. He was a native of Okahumpka, FL and had lived in Jacksonville for most of his life. He was a veteran of the US Army and a Minister. His funeral service will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Oceanway Congregational Holiness Church, 144 Cathy Jo Dr. with Rev. Scott Lockwood officiating assisted by Rev. Dorothy Taylor and Rev. Bobby Taylor. Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery. He was predeceased by two wives, Ethel and Faye. His surviving family includes: his wife, Rev. Loretta B. Sharpe; 4 daughters, Bonnie (William) Timmins, Donna (Stewart) Rutherford, Karen Taylor and Rena Gibson; 3 step-daughters, Brenda (Dennis) McGuire, Glenda (Martin) Prinzi and Tammy (Leon) Ortagus; special friends, Joe and Michelle Samble; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave. Wednesday, February 13 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made, in his memory to either Oceanway Congregational Holiness Church, 144 Cathy Jo Dr, Jacksonville 32218 or Fernandina Church of God of Prophecy, 2712 S. 14th St., Fernandina Beach 32034.The family wishes to thank the Physicians and Staff of the 4th Floor ICU at St. Vincents Riverside.
