SMITH John Paul Smith, 90, passed away on June 17, 2012 after a brief illness. He was born on June 23, 1921 in Live Oak, FL and moved to Jacksonville in 1948. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII. Johnny Paul was a member of the Local Carpenters Union #627 for 63yrs. He was Baptist by faith and a member of Eliam Baptist Church. Johnny Paul loved gardening and sharing what he grew with family and friends. When the fish were biting you would find him sitting in his boat on Sante Fe Lake. He loved having cookouts and frying fish with all the trimmings. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Louise, daughter's: Patricia Hinman (Hank), Connie (Wally) Schramm, Kathryn Allgood and Reda Dowling; 6 grandchildren, 6 great- grandchildren and 8 nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 11am in the chapel of Hardage- Giddens Funeral Home Edgewood with visitation one hour prior to service time. Im so sorry to hear of Uncle Johnny-Pauls death, wished I had known about it. He was such a sweet man, always loved to go visit him and Aunt Louise [where I got my middle name]. He will be greatly missed. Prayers for the family.
