

Jordan J. Ansbacher, age 88, died Thursday, April 28, 2016, following a prolonged illness. A lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Jordan graduated in business from the University of Florida and served as a naval officer in World War II and the Korean War. He established and operated Jordan Ansbacher Realty, a commercial real estate investment firm for more than 50 years and was known locally for his leadership in local causes and in his generosity to charitable activities, including: Boy Scouts of America, Youth Crisis Center, Jacksonville Jewish Center and River Garden Hebrew Home. In 2005, he helped establish the Morris Ansbacher Map Collection in the Jacksonville Public Library to showcase his late brother Lewis “Lukie” Ansbacher’s collection of historic Florida maps.
Jordan was predeceased by his wife, Shirley, after 63 years of marriage. Survivors include children, Donna Helming (Harlan), Brian Ansbacher (Susan), and Michele Cohen (David); grandchildren, Amy Berman (Josh), Lance Helming (Rachel), Michael Ansbacher, and Lindsey Cohen; and great-grandchildren, Sadie Berman, and Charlie Helming. Jordan’s motto, often cited by him, was “I am the luckiest man in the world.”
Graveside services will be held Monday, May 2, 2016 at 1:00 PM in New Center Cemetery, located at 43rd and Liberty Streets, with Rabbi Jonathan Lubliner officiating.
