I continued doing business with him because he was such a pleasure working with.  He had such charisma and knowledge of the jewelry business. I just heard of Joe's passing and my deepest sympathy goes to the entire Espling family.  I got to know Joe when Laurie was my sister-in-law.  He was always smiling and such a pleasure to be around. I met Joe about 27 years ago. He was a friend of my x-husband. We never really socialized but went to see Joe on numerous occasions at the stores he worked at over the years.
I was a co-worker of Pam Espling at Haircuttery. 
I spoke with Joe, early last year, but had been out of touch with Pam. 
I just heard of Joe's passing only to find out Pam had passed as well.

Ben, Laura, ant the rest of the family, I am so sorry to hear about Joe.I didn't get to know him but I do know he was a sweet guy with a great sense of humor.  You will be missed Joe but I know that you are with our sweet Jesus and that your life has really just begun. I'm prayin for you Espling family. Know that Joe is out of pain and with Jesus and we will be there with Him soon enough.

I just learned about Joe's passing yesterday and was devastated.  What a great guy, what a wonderful family. I knew Joe in High School, we took drafting classes together and our families attended the same church for years. I pray God will keep all of you in HIS arms and may you find confort in all the wonderful memories your family created.

My prayers go out the the Espling family after hearing about Joe's passing. I knew Joe and his family from when they opened what I think was their first jewelry store on University Blvd W. as they were a few doors down from where I worked for my Dad at Filip's Deli. They used to come in for lunch all the time. In fact, I dated his sister Laurie for a short period of time in the late 70's. After I left the deli and Joe went on to other stores that they opened we did not keep in touch but I lived in Mandarin and would see him from time to time, but I moved to St. Augustine 8 years ago and had not seen him in quite a long while. He was always a real nice guy and he always seemed in good spirits and full of life. It is sad to have someone pass at an early age,but I am sure it is all in God's plan. I will pray for him and his family as he passes on to his eternal life. May God Bless him.

To the Espling family, joe Espling was a stand up individual and a class act  all around gentleman and amazing jeweler. It was an honor to have known joe for over 15 years and I will always remember sharing that last cup of coffee with joe at Starbucks on April 10th 2013. Dear Family, I pray for comfort and peace in your loss. I knew Joe for 25 years and always remember his smile and sweet spirit. I met him when you had the store at Regency in the 80's when he lost his first son, and I became a customer then and stuck with him as I became successful (last name was Marquis) and able to purchase more jewelry. He was a salesman all right and a great guy. He would show off pics of his kids and talk about fishing and ball games. Later instead of ordering custom jewelry pieces from him, I traded some in for more practical items. As times changed for me, I shared my life with him too and when I became a Christian, first as single again, then later re-married (buying another diamond!) I talked to Joe about God, and my experiences and he listened. I loved the conversations with Joe and was glad to tell him what Jesus had done for me. Again later, when my life so drastically changed and it was hard but okay that I had to sell most all of my jewelry, Joe was sensitive and helpful and again heard in his heart about the greatest hope and love we all have in Jesus. I'll never foret Joe or the wonderful family store you built. I'm so sorry he was taken so soon, so young. God Bless your wonderful family.

Joe was one of my first friends in Jacksonville back in the mid 1970s. Drafting class at Wolfson and promotion of our â€œbandâ€ with his unique style always brings back the best of memories. We only recently re-connected but he will always be fondly remembered as my good friend. Love and prayers to his children and all of the Espling family.

Joe and I were close friends during high school, often surfing together. I remember him as funny and likable. We both were in Mr. Miles engineering drawing class at Wolfson High School.  Joe was easily the best in the class.  He attempted much more challenging projects and his drawings were flawless.  Our paths diverged, we lost touch.  My mother still lives in Jacksonville and shared Joe's obituary with me.  I hope he had a happy life. To his family, please accept my best wishes.

I learned this morning of the passing of my friend Joe from a mutual friend. My heart felt prayers go out to his family during this time. I met Joe shortly after high school and he was always one who would help you when the time was needed. We all had some good times together growing up in Jacksonville in our younger days. He left us much too young and I regret not keeping in touch with him after I moved. Joe, as the sunsets over the mountains tonight where I live I will think of you and the times we had. God willing I hope we will all be together again someday.

Clay and I are so sad for the loss of Joe. I will always remember him with the smile that he always had for myself and my entire family. All of my children grew up knowing that smile and the kindness he had for each one of us. We will keep his family in our prayers and thoughts.

Joe is an original.  His engaging personality and great charm was always welcomed.  

Our connection with Joe was the wonderful years of youth baseball with Cody and our son Tyler here in Mandarin.  During my late wife Mary's illness Joe always brightened our day at the ball field with his brilliant wit and calm demeanor.
