Joseph Raymond Hall Jr.

Joseph R. “Pete” Hall, Jr. passed away on May 12th, 2026; he was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Pauline, and his brother Stanley Hall. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Anita (Kahle) Hall, his three daughters; Shari Huffman (Newton), Terri Williams (Mark), and Dawn Hall, also Roger Moore (Amy), one nephew, Jeremy Hall (Kim), four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many life-long friends.

Pete retired as a Major in the United States Air Force in 1977. As a pilot, he flew a number of different aircraft, including a Jolly Green Giant pararescue helicopter during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Silver Star for the heroic rescue mission of a downed airman that took place on Mother’s Day, 1969.

Following his retirement from the military, he founded Hall Well Service with his brother, flew as a pilot and salesman for Ti-Brook Industries, and was privileged to work as a jack-of-all trades and mentor to many at Kahle’s Kitchen in Leeper Pennsylvania.

A lifelong tinkerer, Pete always had his hands in various projects, work and mischief. He enjoyed decades of recreational flying, taking generations of family and friends for rides in his plane, a yellow Piper Cub, in both Pennsylvania and his second and final home in Florida. Pete was active in the glider club at Brokenstraw Airport in Pittsfield, PA, soaring in sailplanes, flying the tow plane and assisting on ground crew. After moving to Florida, he enjoyed spending his time working, flying, and socializing with close friends at the Hastings airfield.

Pete and his beloved wife Anita spent their retirement golfing, traveling, and taking vacations with family, including houseboat and lake trips, as well as learning to snow ski in his sixties. For his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he will always be remembered as the founder and cheerful enforcer of “Rule #1 - Have Fun.”

A Committal Service will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218, US, on May 22, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
