Joey went from high school, then onto becoming a Marine. After a time of working as a DJ at a couple of skating rinks, Skate N Space and Skate Rd 13, Joey focused on truck driving. He was working for the Hub Group when he passed. He really like the people there and he did enjoy driving.
He was predeceased by his mother, Mary R. Lloyd and his step-father, Fermer L. Lloyd. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Anna; step-son, Sean Roe (Autumn) and step-daughter, Ashli Beckman; a sister, Jane Brown, and her sons, Shaun Brown and Michael Brown (Mallory), all in Indiana; a loving uncle, Harold Lloyd and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Joey, over the years, had a few hobbies. He did RC racing and slot car racing for a while. Joey loved to skate (doing a little rubber-leg action) in his DJ years. The little kid in him came out then! Joey loved to cruise on his Big Dog motorcycle. We had many great times with our wonderful group of riders. He missed that lately! Joey was also a practical joker and he loved to sneak up on and scare the heck out of his friends and he loved to make them laugh. That made his day! We will miss that laugh of his!
I would like to thank all of the Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses and all of the staff at Baptist South that cared for Joey during his battle with COVID-19. They wanted to see him get healthy and go home as much as I wanted him to come home. I can’t express my thanks enough! I am very grateful for them. They fought as hard as he did.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made in Joey's honor to Ana's Angels Animal Rescue in Jacksonville, Florida. You may donate online by visiting https://bestfriends.org/donate/memory.
