Joseph Hopkins was born on May 9, 1924 in West Palm Beach but raised in Jacksonville by his maternal Aunt Thelma K. Jones. He was preceded in death by ex-wife Evelyn Morene Hopkins, mother of his 5 children.
Joseph Hopkins retired from Bono's Barbeque, prior to that he was an entrepreneur as a wholesale provider of produce, and owner and operator of several community convenient stores.
He was a member of the American Legion, and had a passion for bowling, golfing and fishing.
Preceded in death is his sister Marjorie H. Watson and daughter Pamela H. Bailey. He is survived by his daughters Kathy H. Pannell (George), Adelaide Hopkins; sons Joseph K. Hopkins (Debra), and Phillip Hopkins (Glenda); grandchildren, Clinton J. Bailey, Amber Pannell, Leslie Pannell and Joseph K. Hopkins II; a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, July 14th at 10:00 AM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218.
