

Joseph Howell Luter, Jr., age 75, of Jacksonville, FL died November 1, 2012 at his home. He attended the University of Florida where he served as Archon of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He also served in the U.S. Navy for four years. Mr. Luter founded the Desktop Darkroom, Desktop Digital Lab and StudioCity Photography companies. The companies pioneered in digital photography and converted hundreds of studios throughout the country from film to digital. Mr. Luter is predeceased by his son, Greg Luter(2009) and parents Joseph and Elizabeth Luter. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Ellen; son, Michael (LeaAnn); daughter-in-law, Shelley; grandchildren, Christopher, Carianne, Corey, Chandler and Mallory; brother, Tom; sisters, Libby Hurd and Ginger East (Richard); and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Davis presiding. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
