Joseph Edward Mac Hatton, 78 0f Jacksonville, FL passed away on July 16, 2019. He was the son of Ralph and Elaine (nee Tramblie) Mac Hatton, and loving husband of Marion Moore. Joe is survived by Marion,his wife of 44 years, his daughter Elizabeth MacHatton, his sons Michael, Christopher and Matthew MacHatton, his sister Carol Courson , his grandchildren, Sarah, Mackenzie, David and Mason Wilson, Liam and Elle MacHatton and great granddaughter Samara Slaven.
“Joe” was born in Aurora, IL on November 20, 1940 and graduated from the Marmion Academy. After High School he joined the 82nd Airborne unit of the U. S. Army. It was at this time his love of languages and cultures started to develop, and he began traveling and learning languages. Eventually, speaking Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French and some Arabic. He was an active member of many Spanish language clubs. He also traveled often spending time on five of the seven continents.
Joe earned a B. S. in Finance from the University of New York and an MBA from the University of Connecticut and was a Chartered Financial Analyst. He worked for John S. Herold in Greenwich CT as a Financial Analyst/ Fund Manager, Nestle Deer Park Water subsidiary as Manager, First Kentucky Trust as Vice President, First American Bank as Senior Vice president. When Latin American Stocks began to be recognized as part of the emerging markets, Joe found his Spanish and Portuguese along with his financial experience helpful to Kleinwort Benson and BNP Parabas. To Joe’s delight these positions enabled him to see and get to know a great deal of South and Central America and its people.
When Joe retired, he and Marion choose to live in Jacksonville where he would once again live in the same city as his sister. Joe was into his retirement only a few years when he decided that he preferred to work and rejoined the workforce. Eventually he found his way to Sheldrick, McGehee & Kohler where he did business evaluations. He worked until the beginning of 2019.
