

Joseph L. Pilinko, 85, passed away July 29, 2014. He was born in Wilkes Barre, PA to the late Alex Pilinko and Domicella Thomalonis Pilinko. Joe served in the Navy during WWII. Afterwards he worked in the coal mines in PA. He then moved to Buffalo, NY where he retired from General Motors as tool and die maker at the Tonawanda Plant. He relocated to Jacksonville in the late 1970’s. Joe was a member of the Mandarin Seventh Day Adventist Church. His main priority was his family and he also enjoyed gardening and his pets.
One of Joe’s greatest achievements was being the proud father to 5 sons; he is preceded in death by son, Donald. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, LaVerne Harris Pilinko; son, Douglas (Trish) and their children, Jennifer, Kristen, Brittany, Caitlyn; son, Reginald and his son Reginald, Jr.; son, Terry (Stacey) and their children, Nicholas, Christopher (Steffanie), Lindsey (Ryan); son, Bradley (Lynn) and their children, Sydney, Madison, Alex, Trevor; sister, Elsie Szafran; nieces, Kathy, Cindy, Nancy; nephews, David, Bobby, Jimmy; sister-in-law Alverta Shaver; and 12 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-9:00pm, Thursday, July 31 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The funeral service will be 1:00pm, Friday, August 1, at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
