Joseph J. Schiffer

Joseph J. Schiffer, 72, passed peacefully August 22, 2010 in Jacksonville, FL. He served his country proudly with the United States Army at Fort Dix and enjoyed spending time with his loving family. He was a devoted, husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all who loved him. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, beloved wife of 15 years, LaVerne Searcy Ganly; 5 children, Wendy (Bob) Wells, Jim (Jeanette) Antone, Kara (Pat) Siracusa, Kathi (Brian) Nelson, George Antone; and 7 grandchildren, ranging in age from 7-17, Aaron and Gabby Antone, Katherine Siracusa, Matthew, Jarod and Taylor Nelson; Andrew Wells and many extended relatives and friends. He was born in Baltimore and grew up in Los Angeles, CA. After graduating High School he returned to Baltimore to attend the University of Maryland where he received his Bachelor's Degree. He was an Executive Vice President of Commercial Real Estate for First Union Banks and retired in May of 2000. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28th in St. Joseph's Historical Catholic Church, 4214 Loretto Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32258 with Father Daniel Cody as Celebrant, followed by entombment in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
