SMITH - Joseph Q. Smith, 95, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, April 5, 2016. He was born on July 22, 1920 in Nashville, TN to the late Joseph Quincy Smith, Sr. and Annie Ballard Smith. He had resided in Jacksonville since the 1940's and was a long time member of First Baptist Church Jacksonville. He proudly served his country in World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corp (100th TC Sq 441st Gp). After serving his country, he continued working with CSX Transportation in Jacksonville. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his son, Steven J. Smith and is survived by his two daughters, Nancy S. (Joseph C.) Conner and Edith Ann (Marvin) Hartley. Committal services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday April 12, 2016 in the Jacksonville National Cemetery with Military Honors; (Lane # 3 ).
