February 19, 1950 – May 13, 2019
Joyce Love was born on February 19, 1950 in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Brown and Vashti Riley Love. He was born after his five sisters: Willie Alice, Evelyn, Louise (Nee), Eloise and Annie Grace.
Joyce was only a year old when his father died and six years old when his mother passed. He and his sisters remained at their family farm home.
In 1958 sister Alice and her husband Jesse Bannerman took him to Miami, Florida and raised him as their son, sending him to school. After graduating from high school, Joyce enlisted in the United States Air Force.
After serving for four years in the Air Force, he chose California as his home. In 1975, he joined the Oakland Police Department. While there he met Mary Louise Williams, his late wife. The union produced two children, Dajasha Joyce and Johnathan Daryl. He later went on to be a Fraud Manager for CITI Bank while earning his Bachelor's Degree.
After living in Oakland for several years, he moved his family to Fairfield, California. After 25 years of marriage, Mary passed away in 2000. Joyce remarried in 2003 and the marriage later ended in divorce.
After retirement he relocated to St. Johns, Florida until the Lord called him home on Monday, May 13, 2019. He was preceded in death by his sister Alice Bannerman and brother-in-law Jesse Bannerman, brother-in-law Charlie Mack, sister Eloise Kelsey and brother-in-law Emanuel Kelsey, and brother-in-law JB Howell.
Joyce leaves to cherish his memories - daughter Dajasha Love-Britt, son Johnathan Love, grandsons D'Monte and D'Mari, granddaughters Jasmine and Bella Marie, one great-grandson D’Monte (Carter), sisters Evelyn Howell of Valdosta Georgia, Louise (Nee) Sims (Willie James) of Opa-Locka Florida, Annie Grace Scippio (Jerome Scippio) of Colorado Springs Colorado, his “buddy” niece Sheila and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
