As kids, she and her siblings worked at their family store cashiering, stocking, and cutting meat - whatever was needed at the time. Juanita graduated from Putnam High School in 1945. She then went to work at the Tax Collector’s Office. Soon after, she met Roy Bell and they married on November 16, 1946. She was a loving wife and loving mother to four children. She served in her church for many years and ensured her children had the opportunity to learn about the Lord.
She enjoyed sewing outfits for her family in her younger days. She was a Girl scout Leader, the Bell home at times overflowing with cases upon cases of cookies. She also served as PTA President for several years. She loved supporting her children in their school activities, including traveling many times to away games. When her children were grown, she studied Floral Design and became a talented florist, as well as a Floral Instructor. Juanita loved spending time with her family and friends. If you were on her mailing list, you knew immediately a card was from her because it would be covered in stickers for the occasion, including her signature Ladybug sticker. She was so faithful to remember important events in peoples’ lives and encouraged many over the years with her cards and gifts. Her faith in the Lord, while quiet, was genuine.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents William Cecil Sr., and Edith Lee Palmer, her husband Roy, brother W.C. Palmer, sister Carolyn Thomas, and sister Kate Mooney. She is survived by her brother Billy Palmer; her four children, Mary Bell, Mitchell (Diane) Bell, Christina (Rick) Wilson, and Patricia (Mike) Lemus; her grandchildren Mitchell Bell Jr., Rhonda Bell, Christopher Bell, and Ashley Lemus, as well as extended family. Even though we had all those years with her, it was not enough. She is already greatly missed, and we look forward to seeing her again.
A Visitation for Juanita will be Friday April 4, 2025 from 11:00AM-12:45PM at Hardage-Giddens Mandarin Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32223. Followed by a committal at Jacksonville National Cemetery 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
