

Judy was born on December 26, 1941, to the late Walter and Wilda Chambers in Washington, DC. She grew up on Patrick Henry Drive in Falls Church Virginia and attended Radford University. Judy was married twice (to S. Herbert Omasta and later to Dwight Braddy Sr.)
Judy raised her family in Jacksonville but in 1988 she moved to Maryland to be near her beloved sister Nancy Gouge and help take care of their parents. She worked many years at the Frank Parsons Paper company in Laurel Maryland, but after retiring decided to return to Florida in 2009, first residing in The Villages and then returning to Jacksonville in 2018 to be close to her daughter Kristi and her family.
This beautiful lady was immensely proud of her large family and is survived by her two daughters Deanna Larus (John) of Chapel Hill, NC and Kristen Lewis (Harry) of Jacksonville, and two stepsons Dwight and Scott Braddy. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Mark Larus, Allison Sculthorpe (Tom), Madison Lewis, Abby Larus (fiancé Liam Miranda), Harrison Lewis, Karson Vinson (Brody), Emmy Brandon (Caleb), Grayson Lewis, Bree Lewis, Jacob Lewis, Addie Lewis, Ander Lewis, Ella Lewis, five great-grandchildren, and her two beloved cats Sunny and Sophie. Judy was loved by many, but especially her close friends Janet Presley and Howard Hickey, a former neighbor whom she reconnected with and became an inseparable companion. All carry forward many fond memories of good times with Judy.
Judy was a wonderful person who had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities. She was known for her generous spirit and loved cats, card games, game shows, Maryland crabs and the Washington Redskins. Judy played duplicate bridge for many years and loved other games of all types. She also enjoyed parties and spending time with her many friends at Brookdale Senior Living.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel at 11 am, a celebration of her life ceremony will be held 12 p.m., burial will take place immediately afterwards and will be followed by a reception in the Lodge at Oaklawn beginning at 1:00pm.
The family requests that people make donations to their favorite charity, in lieu of sending flowers.
