March 10, 1982 – October 17, 2019
Juliet Valerie Cabral-Tran was born on March 10, 1982 in Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines, where she spent her childhood. She attended Pasay City Academy in Makati before moving to the United States, where she then attended Wolfson High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Juliet met her now husband, Ryu Okamura, at the age of 15 in Jacksonville, where they began their close friendship. After high school, Juliet began her professional career as a Medical Assistant and eventually transitioned into Mortgage Insurance.
Juliet was an avid member of the Southside Baptist Church and never failed to put her faith in God. She loved reading, listening to audiobooks, watching the food network, traveling, snowboarding, being outdoors, and watching cirque du soleil and musical theater shows. She was known for being a foodie and obsessed over chocolate and desserts.
Juliet married the love of her life, Ryu Okamura, on April 24, 2016 after 11 years of being together. Juliet and Ryu loved to spend their days walking their two dogs Sophie and Kirby, trying out new restaurants, and listening to 80’s music. They traveled all over Europe, frequently visited family in California, and loved taking trips to Napa Valley. On January 17, 2017, Juliet gave birth to their only son, Jacques Okamura.
Sadly, during Juliet’s last month of pregnancy, she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and from then on, spent the last three years of her life undergoing constant treatment. Juliet exhibited fierce strength, remained iron-willed, and persevered through her fight with cancer as she wanted nothing more than to be a mother to her son Jacques. Even in her final months, she remained dedicated to her son and husband.
Juliet is survived by her husband Ryu Okamura, her son Jacques Okamura, her brother John Louie Cabral, her sister Julianne Cabral, her father Joven Cabral, her mother Valeriana Catada Cameron.
A Celebration of Juliet's Life will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Southside Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida. The visitation will take place between 10am to 1pm. A Celebration of Juliet’s Life will begin at 1pm and the reception will take place between 2pm to 4pm. For questions regarding the funeral service, please contact Julianne Cabral at (925) 664-9275.
