June Ingoldsby, age 93, departed this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 in Jacksonville, Florida. Born in Johnson City, Tennessee to William Jackson Williams and Mary Belle Grinstead Williams, June was the seventh of eight children, Lois Hutson, Ralph Williams, Goldyn Lyle, Jack Williams, Leah Osborne, Belle Williams, and Patsy Day. June graduated from East Tennessee State University where she met the love of her life, James (Jim) H. Ingoldsby, to whom she was married almost 64 years. June also earned a master’s degree in education from Peabody (Vanderbilt) University.
As Jim and June moved with Jim’s railroad career, June taught second grade in Savannah, GA, Portsmouth, VA, Rocky Mount, NC, and finally, where they resided for many years, in Jacksonville, Florida. Along with her beloved husband, June was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville for almost 50 years. June loved to read, and especially to read and study God’s Word and teach it to others. She served the church by teaching youth and ladies’ classes, and served alongside Jim in directing and outreach for couple’s classes. Together, June and Jim’s home was a place of hospitality for the Lord’s work, and they were beloved for their generosity and kindness to those around them. After Jim’s home-going in 2019, June lived with family and became a member of Grace Community Church of Jacksonville where she was an encouragement to many by her commitment to the Lord, and His church, and by her sweet, smiling disposition. She continued to enjoy reading all through her life, always learning, and eager to share the love and truth of Christ with all who came in contact with her.
June was a loving mother of three sons, Nelson (deceased, Feb. 28, 1975), David (Robyn), and John (Denise), ten beloved grandchildren, Patrick (Courtney), Rachael (Stuart), Julia, James, Lydia, Caroline, Grace, Olivia, Ben, and Drew (Julie), and six precious great-grandchildren, Emma, Clara, Seth, Ella June, Ian, Chloe, and a seventh on the way. June will be greatly missed by her sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. June is also survived by her younger sister, Patsy Day, of Statesville, NC. She joins her husband, Jim, son, Nelson, her parents and siblings in glory.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate June’s life on Friday, February 7, 2025, 1:00 pm at Grace Community Church, 10938 Hood Rd. S, Jacksonville, Florida.
