June Carter Knight

June Carter Knight went to be with the Lord on February 5, 2014. She was born to the late Wade and Willie Mae Carter on July 1, 1935 in St. Augustine, Florida. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, Class of 1954. Faithful member of Dunn’s Creek Baptist Church serving on several committees: greeter, senior activities, kitchen, and bereavement. She was also a group leader for her Pacemakers Sunday school class and a devoted member of the Senior Choir, Joyful Noise.

June was preceded in death by her bothers, Wade and Granville Carter; her loving husband of 39 years, W.R. “Billy” Knight; and sons, Bill Knight Jr. and Ronnie Knight.

She is survived by her children, Robin Lightsey, Loren Wadsworth, Kobe Wadsworth, and Barry Knight; grandchildren April Hutchinson, Adam Knight, Justin Jeffers, Brett Knight, Jessica Jeffers, Benjamin Knight, Kalli Burrell, Dana Knight, Austin Wadsworth, Morgan Knight, Tyler Knight, and Jake Wadsworth; her great grandchildren, Carter and Layla; and very special friend Terrie Ward. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and countless friends and loved ones.

The viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4315 Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at 11:00 am at Dunn’s Creek Baptist Church, 1424 Starratt Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218, followed by entombment in Evergreen Cemetery at 4535 N Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206.
