Katherine "Kay" A. Reese

Katherine A. Reese (Kay), age 71, of Jacksonville, FL., passed away suddenly from complications while fighting cancer like a warrior surrounded by her loving family on July 9, 2018. Kay was born in Columbus, Ohio to Dorothy L. (Benniger) and William R. Brooker. She was a wonderful nurturer to her brothers, her soulmate of 50 years, Dan, her beloved sons, David (Amy) and William (Robin) and her four grandchildren.

As a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend and grandmother (Bammy), Kay made life sweeter and always gave wise counsel to all. Her four grandchildren, Mackenzie, David, Liam and Cade absolutely adored her and will miss her greatly.

She was preceded in death by Bill and Dorothy Brooker (her mother and father); David and Eleanor Reese (father and mother-in-law); and brothers, Gregory and Douglas Brooker. Kay is survived by three brothers, Jim (Michelle), Dan (Ann) and Dave Brooker (Peggy); her in-laws, Bill (Cheri) Schmidt and Bill (Debbie) Reese and Vicky Brooker. She has 13 nieces and nephews which she loved intensely.

Kay attended the University of Dayton and worked for the Northeast Association of Realtors (NEFAR) in her late years. Her most rewarding life work, which she was extremely proud of, was providing a loving home to her family and guidance to her beloved boys.

Kay fought her battle with cancer hard and finished the race of life a winner. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. 2 Timothy 4:7

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am Friday, July 20, 2018 at San Jose Catholic Church, 3619 Toledo Rd, Jacksonville. The family will receive visitors beginning at 9:00 am in the Narthex of the church. A reception with the family will follow the service.
