Katherine Ann Lyon, born February 27, 1959, in Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Community Hospice at Baptist Hospital South in Jacksonville. She was 67.
Katherine is survived by her son, Griffin Kelly Lyon; her daughter, Eleanor Lyon Fischer, and son in law Paul Fischer; her beloved granddaughters Birdie and Farris; her parents, Wilford Charles Lyon Jr. and Eleanor Perkins Lyon; and her brother, Wilford Charles Lyon III.
A graduate of The Bolles School and Stetson University, Katherine earned her bachelor’s degree in Humanities, a field that reflected her lifelong love of ideas, culture, and creativity.
Katherine’s career followed many paths, each shaped by her remarkable imagination and resourcefulness. Whether working with her hands, designing, crafting, or creating beauty through flowers, she brought care, intention, and artistry to everything she touched.
She was known for her creative spirit, her resourcefulness, and her deeply caring nature. Her passions were many: reading widely, exploring Anglo culture, and pursuing creative endeavors such as baking, needlework, and crafting. These interests naturally informed her talent as a florist, where her eye for detail and love of beauty came together.
Katherine was also devout in her faith, which grounded her life and guided her through every season.
A graveside service will be held June 13th at 10:00 a.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida. The service is open to the public, and all who wish to honor her memory are welcome.
Katherine will be remembered for the beauty she created, the love she gave, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life.
Instead of flowers, the family wishes any gift be made in Katherine's name at Community Hospice.
