

Katherine Papazisis Syrmis, 72, of Saint Johns, passed away on December 3, 2011 at the Baptist Medical Center South. Katherine was born on May 29, 1939 in York, PA to the late Reverend Effis B. Papazisis and Carrie B. Papazisis. She worked as a Teacher’s Aide for the Duval County School Board. Katherine was a member of the St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church, and she enjoyed attending the Fur Gala each year. She had a great love for animals and enjoyed caring for them. Katherine is survived by her loving husband, Christo Syrmis. Additional survivors include her 3 children, Timothy S. Syrmis; Spyros Dennis Syrmis and his wife Debbie; and Evangelia S. Syrmis; her 3 grandchildren, Ariel, Alec, and Amber; and her nephew, John Kerns. Katherine was preceded in death by her sister, Angeline (Papazisis) Kerns. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 7th with visitation one hour prior to the service in St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church, 3850 Atlantic Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207, with Reverend Dr. Nicholas Louh as Officiant. Interment will follow the Funeral Service in Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 Main St., Jacksonville, FL 32206.
