January 10, 1973October 30, 2021

Kimberly Hillard Brody, 48 was born in Jacksonville, Florida on January 10, 1973. She passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on October 30, 2021 in Jacksonville, Florida. Kim graduated from Georgia Southern University with a B.S in Justice Studies. She returned home to Jacksonville and worked for the State Attorney’s Office. However, after some time she decided to follow in her mother‘s footsteps and discovered her passion for teaching. Kim earned her teaching certificate and then continued on to become a nationally certified teacher. She dedicated many years enriching the minds of her students. Nothing was more important to Kim than her family and friends. Kim was constantly thinking of others and how she could support them. She was a loyal and fierce friend, wife, godmother and had full faith in God. She was a talented baker and shared treats with friends and neighbors. Kim’s love and joy shone bright through her actions and even in her choice of clothing. She absolutely loved to wear Lilly Pulitzer because the colors matched her passion for life. Kim’s passion for life included her love of football. She bled orange and blue and could be found every Saturday cheering on her Gators. Kim was preceded in death by her grandfather, Major Tom Beardsley, and grandmother Hazel Beardsley. Kim is survived by her loving and devoted husband Jon, godsons Allen Johnson (Sarah) and Chris Westry, grandchildren Jr, Aaron, and Ariyah Johnson. Parents Jana and Stan Hillard, brother Tommy Hillard, sister in laws Lisa Smith (Rob), Michelle Branly, nephews Cooper, Cason and Tucker Hillard, nieces Donovan Smith and Sara Branly. Her two fur babies, Bentley and Hadlee, were cherished members of the family as well. A memorial service honoring Kim’s life will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Jacksonville Humane Society.

Kim was one of my first teacher friends when I started my career at Hogan-Spring Glen teaching 2nd grade with her. We immediately found a bond over Gators Football, teaching, and laughing about the oddities of life in and out of the classroom. We spent many Saturdays together with her family and shared many laughs with her and Jon, Jana and Bugsy. One summer, Kim rented a beach house in Fernandina Beach. Some of us joined her and Jon and I will always recall the fun we had and the smiles we shared. Much love to a lady who enjoyed life. ❤️
