

Larry was born in Lima, Ohio on August 26, 1947. He was the first of six children of Sarah and Clayborne Halbert. At a young age Larry learned the value of hard work and developed a determined spirit that would follow him throughout his life. He met the love of his life, Anna Halbert in Martin, Kentucky and they celebrated 60 years of marriage together.
Larry graduated high school in Martin, Kentucky and earned a General Contractors license in Jacksonville, Florida. His career in construction introduced him to many people and gave him the opportunity to touch many lives.
Larry was funny, witty, genuine, and never afraid to be exactly who he was. Whether telling a story, lending a hand, or just sitting around cracking jokes, he had a presence about him and a way of lighting up a room.
He proudly ran his waterproofing business for 45 years and taught many people, many things, along the way. Larry was a proud husband and father and had many passions. His favorite passion and hobby was airplanes and flying. As a pilot, Larry owned a Cessna 210 and he took every opportunity to be in the sky. Larry enjoyed traveling with his wife, Anna, and together they visited many beautiful destinations.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Anna Halbert; children, Katherine Halbert (Charles) and Larry Halbert Jr.; his grandson, Larry Halbert III (Lindsay); his sisters; Mary Jackson (Jim) and Genoia Bouche; his brothers Clayborne Halbert Jr (Virginia) and Garry Halbert (Sandra); several nieces, nephews, great-grand children and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Sarah Leigh Halbert; mother, Sarah Halbert; Father, Clayborne Halbert; sister, Theresa Mary and brother-in-law, Gregory “Vincent” Mary.
In his final year, Larry was courageous and steadfast in his pursuit of recovery. During this time, he was cared for by several wonderful caregivers; who all provided him joy and comfort at the end of his life.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 1, 2026, 1:30p.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Florida. A reception gathering, also at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, will be held after the service to celebrate the life and legacy of Larry E. Halbert Sr..
Larry will be long remembered for his love of flying and deeply missed by his many friends and his loving family. May he find peace and clear skies on the other side.
