Leila was a devoted and very loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend. She was a caring daughter to her mother Marilou, her father Glen (deceased), and her stepfather Tomas. She was a devoted wife to German. She was a proud mama to her 8 children Sholei (Zach), Testa, Bonbon, Iya, Axel, Bhe, Rita, and Jehu. A loving grandma to Emma, Maddy, Meia, and Bubba. Fur grandma to Marla, BunBun, Miyo, Dudderz, Rosebud. Sister to Leslie and Louie. Niece to Dan (Helen).
As a young woman she was independent and a lover of sports such as swimming, volleyball, badminton, basketball, and skating. Leila enjoyed traveling, cooking, singing karaoke (even with wrong lyrics), and was an avid planter (a certified plant fanatic). During her career as a caregiver, she has served several patients with utmost dedication and outstanding work ethics. She was passionate about cosmetology where she ultimately decided to become a professional cosmetologist. She was certified in the state of California in 2008. She was preceded by her daughter, Testa Rosa Tolentino (1988-2023).
She had many passions in life, such as cooking in which she excels in. Leila loved experimenting with new recipes (doesn’t like following recipes) and creating a new dish. Her love for thrift shopping is more than just a hobby; it's a way for her to collect special treasures, each one with its own story, that she dreams of passing down to future generations. Even her texts in the family group chat have blossomed, now filled with carefully chosen emojis that reflect her playful, thoughtful side. Her creative spirit flows through everything she touches—whether it's bringing paper dolls to life, helping with school projects, or designing the home she’s always envisioned. Each creation is a little piece of her heart, and it’s clear that her imagination has no limits.
She’s a remarkable mother, always there to guide us with love and wisdom, offering lectures that come from a place of deep care, all to ensure we grow into the best versions of ourselves. She’s constantly thinking about what’s best for us, always putting her family’s needs before her own. Though she’s not perfect, she strives every day to do her best for her loved ones, pouring her heart into everything she does. Every single day, she teaches us valuable lessons—showing us how to navigate life practically, preparing us for the future with her unwavering support and guidance.
Leila was a devout Catholic woman with an unquestionable faith. Her perpetual belief in her religion remained resilient during her times of struggles. She shares her love of God with everyone and consistently shares her prayers for those who are in need and the sick. As her health declined, her unfathomable devotion has been a source of strength and gave her a sense of peace. To those who are close to her, she will be remembered as someone who is always ready to serve and give her very best. She was the type of person who was always eager to listen to your problems and lend an ear. Leila’s ability to be nurturing has been a source of warmth, and comfort to her family and friends.
