There is still only one picture of anyone on my desk, and that is of Lenny. I still find myself thinking about Lenny and his legacy for me.  His memory has not faded, and will never fade. 

Dr. Newton will truly be missed...I am grateful to have known and worked with him. His passion for medicine inspired me to go into the field, for that I am thankful...

Although I only knew Newt a short time, he was many things to me. He was a friend, a neighbor and a person who was just fun to be with. I greatly enjoyed our conversations about a wide range of subjects. I truly miss him.

As part of the Care Coordination NE Staff at BCBSFL, Dr. Newton's absence has been felt, but we all feel priviledged to have had our time with him.  Our morning dog conversations while fixing his oatmeal and me getting coffee, or just seeing him simply walk the office in his wide variety of bow ties.  Mrs. Newton it's been an honor to have known your husband and work for him.  His has been a breath of fresh air.

My condolences to Pat.  Lenny was a great Doctor & friend.  He will be missed.

Words cannot express the deep sadness I feel.  I grew up with Lenny, spending every Thanksgiving together, our fathers discussing history, politics, and science while we kids played.  I loved him so much.  He was one of my favorite cousins. He came to be with my Dad (who adored him) at the hospital before he died.  So glad we were able to see you last Thanksgiving at Marshas.  Who knew that it would be the last time I would see him.  I hope he knew how much he meant to me.  Please take care of yourself.  I never saw him happier than his years with you. He lived a full and meaningful life, , but we needed more time together.  We love you.

always made the day better.

Dear Pat, EJ and I can hardly believe it.  Len was so alive, so happy, and so overworked, but he always seemed to handle it well.  
I figured it was because he had a wonderful home life.  The last time I spoke to him was when he called Teri with the news.  He never said a word to me about his illness, but took the time to ask about all of us.  Len really helped me understand what my 16 year old niece was going through when she was diagnosed with Hodgekins disease.  He assured me that she would survive, and she has. Through Connie Gamel I have followed Dr. Newton's career and health after he left Cortland and Ithaca.  He was a casual friend as well as my ENT.  I can't say enough about his prowess as a physician and his compassionate character.  I am truly sorry that the world has lost this truly wonderful man.  Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Pat, I am in shock.... sitting in California, visiting my mother-in-law, I signed on to email this morning and received the sad, sad news from Pam.  I'm just in tears for you and know the pain must be unbearable.  I always admired you as a couple - just so supportive and in love with each other. I remember the first time I met Len - he accompanied you to your first Coalition meeting and I was impressed that he would take the time to do that.  I have said many prayers for you both. I just heard the news about Len last night from a colleague of mine from Blue Cross and have felt very heavy hearted since.  I had the pleasure of meeting Len over a year ago during the recruitment process for his position in Jacksonville, FL.  I recall my first impression of him and thought how lucky the company would be if he chose to come work for us.  Although I no longer work for the company, I had hoped to keep in touch with Len as I valued the friendship we developed during his transition to Jacksonville.  Being a dog lover as yourself, I also had hoped to meet you one day because Len had told me how passionate you were with your animals and admired that about both of you.  Please know that I'm thinking of you and hope you find peace during this time of sorrow.  My deepest condolences.

Having known Lenny from the time I first entered anesthesia practice in 1987 and during the the 6 years I worked with him in Cortland, and in all the time since, I was always proud to call him my friend.  Lenny was brilliant, funny, and compassionate. We shared a drive to provide excellent care to our patients.  Lenny was a consummate professional and an outstanding human being.  Lenny got me involved with the 1890 House Board in Cortland.  We shared a wonderful circle of friends in Cortland, and numerous interests together.  We had such a similar outlook that it should not have been a surprise that he was going for his masters at the same time I started my MBA.  Perhaps most importantly Lenny was a stand up guy who would back his friends to the hilt, even if meant professional risk for himself.  His keen insights, sense of humor, and joy for life, will always be memories we treasure of Lenny.

Lenny was a friend and a wonderful doctor in our Cortland community.  We had been in his company socially and professionally over the years he lived near us.  Pat, we are very sorry for your loss; he ws a great guy.  Georgiann & Jim Cocuzzi

Dear Pat, I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Dr. Newton's passing. I am happy that the two of you had so many good years together. Mrs. Newton, your husband was such a kind and funny man. He made a great impression on me in the few months that I got to work with him. He helped me understand ENT issues that I would otherwise never know about. He took the time out of his very busy day to help whoever needed it, which is rare these days. He had a great sense of humor and I loved his cute little bow-ties!  Carry his memories close to heart and know that he was adored (and well respected) by many people at BCBSF. I'll miss him dearly. I hope you find some peace knowing he meant so much to so many.

A shock to us when Pat called. So pleased to have had dinner with Newt when he was on the west coast of Florida last fall. Words do not express or sense of loss.

Dr. Newton taught me so much in the beginning of my medical career when I worked for him in Ithaca, NY. He was a brilliant man, and I am so sorry to hear of his passing.

Remembering Len so full of life, our hearts go out to you Pat and all of Len's loved ones.

Newt was a wonderful, energetic and totally engaging man, and he will be truly missed by all whose lives he touched, however briefly.  My heart goes out to those who were closest to him. Dr. Newton will be very much missed by the Jacksonville Care Coordination Nurses  at BCBSFL.  He taught us so much in the past year. He was very much respected by all who worked with him.   He shared his love of dogs with us fellow pet owners. He kept us up todate on his home improvement projects and often we share home improvement tips from lessons learned. We will miss the medical knowledge he shared with us and his compassionate nature as we continue on each day without him. Heavens gain is our loss.
