

Leroy Rogers, 77, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014. Mr. Rogers was a native of Havana, Florida, born to Henry and Eva Rogers and graduated in 1957 from Carter Parramore Academy. He was a longtime resident of Jacksonville and active member of Vision Baptist Church and later made the commitment to Holy Spirit Baptist Church, both under Pastor Kelvin Lewis. Leroy was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the Florida Army National Guard. He also retired after over 30 years from the Simmons Company. Survivors include two sons, Leroy Rogers, Jr. and Michael Burch (Doniese); Arzella Rumph Johnson, whom he thought of as a daughter; one brother, Theodore Rogers; five grandchildren, other loving family including a nephew, Jeffrey Johnson (Brenda) and a host of dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 14, in the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Avenue, with Pastor Kelvin L. Lewis officiating. The family will receive beginning one hour prior to the service. A committal service with military honors will be held at a later date in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
