

Lewis Earle Winans, 96, passed away at his home in Jacksonville, FL on April 29, 2016. He was born on Dec. 29, 1919 to Abigail and Earle Winans in Worcester, NY. He graduated from Pace College in New York City with an accounting degree. Lewis started his career as an accountant and later partnered with his brothers and formed Winans Men’s Shops in Oneonta, NY. Lewis was a World War II veteran and earned a Bronze Star. Lewis was active in the United Methodist Church in Oneonta, NY and in Palm Bay, FL. He was a devoted husband and father and will remain in our hearts and prayers forever. Lewis was predeceased by his wife, Maereece Hamilton Winans and his son, Edward Winans. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Kamsler (Kirk); grandchildren Sarah (Andy) of Portland, OR, Matthew (Layne) of Alpharetta, GA, and Emily (Bart) of St. Johns, FL; as well as 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Gladys Leopitzi of Palm Bay, FL; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 7 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin with Pastor Alan Liphart as Officiant.
