During her early professional life, she was a history teacher, and had a passion for teaching dyslexic children. Later she worked for the family business, Mitchell Electronics (Jacksonville, FL), as the bookkeeper before becoming a stay-at-home mother.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Elisabeth Mitchell and father, Frank Mitchell.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Jacobsen; sister, Frances Key; sister Anne Bennett; nephew, Curtis Key; nephew, Mitchell Bennett; and nephew, Scott Bennett, among other family.
A visitation will be held from 11:00am - 1:00pm Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel - St. Johns Gallery. Graveside service will immediately follow at 1:00pm at the Oaklawn Cemetery (mausoleum).
