Linda Kay Mabe

Linda was a graduate of Huntington High School and Century Business College. She married James William Mabe on December 27, 1960 and was a homemaker raising three children while her husband traveled for the railroad. Once the youngest graduated from high school, she pursued a successful career in real estate and was appointed the Assistant Manager of Watson Mandarin North until her retirement.

Linda had a passion for volunteering at her local church, cruising and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Huntington Junior Women’s Club. Linda served as an Elder, Trustee, Building Committee member, Search Committee member, Preschool Committee Member, Children’s Sunday School Teacher (30+ years), and Bible School Teacher for Mandarin Presbyterian Church. In addition, she was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Women. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, L. Gordon Millard and Edna Rose Millard. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband James William Mabe, daughters, Cathy (Les) Scherr and Beth (Jerry) Linder, son, James William Mabe II; grandchildren, Dan (Lauren) Abramowitz, Rachel Abramowitz, Drew (Miranda) Linder, Eric Linder, Kylee Mabe and great- grandchildren, Carter Abramowitz, Jack Abramowitz and Kenley Linder.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Community Hospice of Northeast Florida and her special friend Wanda who cared for her in the past year.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Mandarin Presbyterian Church, 2501 Loretto Road, Jacksonville, FL 32223. Rev. Jeff Arnold will be officiating. Due to construction at the church, please park in the back and enter through the rear doors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Community Hospice of N.E. FL, 4266 Sunbeam Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32257 or Mandarin Presbyterian Building Fund, 11844 Mandarin Road, Jacksonville, FL 32223.
