It is with broken hearts that her sisters announce Linda’s passing. She left this life with courage and grace, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and deep love, and an unwavering belief in what is possible.
Linda was born on December 10, 1954 in Jacksonville, her life-long home. She grew up on the Southside, attending public schools and Southside United Methodist Church, and spending summers visiting cousins in Miami and Atlanta. Beginning at Hendricks Avenue Elementary, Linda went on to duPont Jr. and Wolfson Sr. High Schools, where she was on the cheerleading squads. She left FSU to marry Bradley Newsom in 1974, a union that lasted for 10 years.
Linda’s work life began in the family business, Standard Feed Company, where she learned to work hard and get along, skills that served her well, and where her unshakable enthusiasm and resilience developed. She worked for stock traders for several years before moving into the new home industry, where she thrived. Linda was also active in the Northeast Florida Builders Association, where she served as Chair of the Sales and Marketing Council in 2001. She worked for builders, most recently Toll Brothers, matching people and new homes, until illness led to her retirement in 2024.
We would be remiss not to mention Linda’s love of animals. She was thrilled to swim with dolphins but her real love was cats. She adopted many over the decades, never saying no when asked to give another one a good home.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, John Gordon Moore and Nina Gilbert Moore, and her dear friend and life partner, Robert K. Bieri. She is survived by her sisters, Barbara Moore (Bob Brown) and Joan Moore (Dan Schafer); her nephew Jonathan Brown; niece, Jennifer Eccleston (Jerry); Jennifer’s children, and many of her cousins. She will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at the Lodge at Oaklawn Cemetery, San Jose Boulevard at 4:00 on December 10, 2025, where all who loved her will be welcome to gather, share memories, and honor her spirit. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice. Some of Linda’s recent favorites include the Jacksonville Humane Society, I Will Remember for You, and Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (Pan-Can).
