Louise Cannon Phillips, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on October 15, 2018, at the age of 96. She is survived by her 4 sons; Orren Kimbrough Phillips (Jacksonville), Jehu Perryman Phillips (Ft. McCoy), Thomas Wayne Phillips (Jacksonville), Theodore Winston Phillips (Atlanta, GA), her sister; Barbara Muirhead (El Cajon, CA), 8 grandchildren; Kimanne Phillips, Kelly Evins, Kirk Phillips, Shelly Moody, Jason Phillips, Joianna Phelps, Christina Miller, Barbara Phillips, 12 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
She owned and operated Fun Day Kindergarten for 30 years, and also owned and operated a lodge named the Smokeseege, a youth hostel in North Carolina for 20 years before returning to Jacksonville, FL. She enjoyed mountain climbing and all outdoor activities, and even belonged to the American Camping Association. She also enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader.
She was a longtime member of the University Baptist Church before moving to Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, October 19, 2018 in Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home. The Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Oaklawn Cemetery 4801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32207.
