Loyselle Weaver Barrs

Loyselle Weaver Barrs passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017, in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 80. She is preceded in death by her husband, Julian W. Barrs and is survived by sons Julian W. (Wally) Barrs, Jr., Jeffery A. Barrs, three grandchildren (Joshua, Caleb and Juliana Elizabeth) and two great grand-children (Hayden and Nolan).

Loyselle was employed by Western Auto and retired from Independent Life insurance Company. She was a long-time faithful member of Murray Hill and Neptune Beach Baptist Churches. She supported her husband Julian’s many responsibilities in an almost 30 year career with the City of Jacksonville Parks & Recreation Department and also his 10 year tenure as Director of MWR at Mayport Naval Station.

She enjoyed her family, social activities with friends, cooking, gardening and spending time at the family farm located in Day, Florida. (Lafayette County)

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 13 from 6PM-8PM at Hardage Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 14 at the funeral home followed by a brief graveside service at 2PM at Day Cemetery in Day, FL.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor her memory may do so by donating to the Alzheimers Associates, 4237 Salisbury Road Suite 310 Jacksonville, FL 32216.
