Lucille Carter Herrin was born on February 24, 1921 in Hoboken, Georgia. Her parents were Jeptha Griffin and Zettie O’Quinn Griffin. Lucille died on April 29, 2015 at Life Care Center of Jax, while under the care of Community Hospice. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist faith, and attended churches in Georgia.
She leaves two loving daughters, Phyllis Carter and Dianne Copeman (Tom). She was a proud and loving grandmother to grandsons, Patrick Copeman and Wayne Copeman (Karen). She adored her four great-children, Pat’s children Nikki and Christine Copeman, and Wayne’s, John & Katy Copeman. We all loved her and felt blessed to have her with us this long. She was a wonderful and caring mother, and grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had many friends and never met a stranger. Lucille (Lucy as known in her younger days) was the eldest of 12 children. Her siblings still living are Avery Griffin, Iris Carpenter, and David Griffin (Willene) who all reside in Georgia. She has many nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention. She worked many years as a beloved waitress in a lot of the major fine restaurants in Jax.
