

She was born on October 30, 1912 in Waycross, Georgia. She is survived by her son, W. Raleigh Thompson, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Lane M. Thompson. She is also survived by brothers, Clinton Westberry (Carol), Jake Westberry; stepchildren, Jim Allen Jr., Mary Jean Torda and Lynn Forrest, all of North Carolina; nieces and nephews, Beverly Hopkins (Chester), Yvonne Mozingo (Steve) and Edward Cavannaugh (Debbie); five grandchildren, W. Raleigh Thompson III, Lance Thompson (Tonya), Joanne Thompson, Ashley Senn (Kurt), Ruth Burchfield and four step-grandchildren, Grayson Harmon (Joelle), Elizabeth Lute (Dann), Tracie Jacobs (Steve), and Heather Harmon; 23 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by eight siblings.
She is remembered by her beloved caregiver, Ann Hupp. Remembering also with love her caregivers: Angharad Jones, Karen Jones and Sally Coppage.
Mrs. Allen has been a member of the Mandarin Baptist Church for 52 years and a resident of Mandarin since 1944. She was employed for 20 years with Jacksonville Central Credit Union as Manager and Treasurer for the League after retirement. She was a remarkable woman with a pioneering spirit who trusted the Lord, loved her family and carved a riverfront home out of the wilderness called Mandarin.
Family will receive friends at 10:30 am on Monday, April 25 in Mandarin Baptist Church. The Funeral Service in celebration of Lucille Allen will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 25th in Mandarin Baptist Church, 11244 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL with Pastor Bill Yeldell as Officiant. A Private Interment will be held.
Memorials may be made to the Mandarin Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Lucille Allen.
